Patient Stories

My boyfriend Donnie Baumgartner got thrown off of his horse, then the horse fell down on top of him crushing his collar bone and a small bone in his chest. We from there went to the ER at Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison, Indiana. He was admitted that night. The next day Dr. Rocha talked to us about putting a metal plate on the collar bone... Donnie reluctantly did it. He is soo glad that he decided to listen to Dr. Rocha. He did an amazing job!! Usually at age 33 a broken collar bone would take a year to feel completely better and still not be "normal". Donnie has been back to work since about 8 weeks after the accident (he is a brick mason!!!)! Dr. Rocha is amazing!! I sure wish he didn't move away!

On November 27, 2010 I fell off of a ladder and had a tibial plateau fracture. When I got to the ER, I called my cousin who is a RN for the orthopedic group at Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison Indiana. I called her to see who was on call. My cousin said Dr Rocha was on call. He was a locum tenum there. She said I HAD to stay and see him. She had assisted him in surgery several times and worked with him in the office. Her words were "he's awesome!" I went for my xrays and the tech said the same thing. Then comes the ER nurses who say the same thing!

So at around 6:00 pm on Nov 27, 2010, I met Dr. Rocha. He put me and my family at ease about the surgery. (Those dimples helped a little!) He said the hospital didnt have the equiptment that he wanted to use and he had ordered it from Louisville KY and it would be in the next day. He did my surgery the next day and told me I had one of the worst fractures he had seen. The other orthopedist that was working called his collegue and said "you've got to come in and see what this kid has done." He meant it in a good way! I saw him for my 2 week post op and I was doing very well. Now I didn't like it much when he told me "no weight bearing for 12 weeks" but he's the doc!

Then he up and goes back to Florida where it's warm and leave me here in the cold in Indiana!! I started PT and they were amazed at how well I did. I went to see one of the doctors in my group about another problem. He saw my films and asked me to bend my leg. I can completely bend it just like the other one. He was amazed. He said "all I can say is you had a great surgeon." I will totaly agree with that and will always be indebted to Dr. Rocha and his fine surgical skills! Tanya K. of Hanover, Indiana

This was my first time with this doctor and I was amazed by his bedside manner as well as he personally came to the front counter when I had additional questions instead of having a nurse or support staff sent the answer. Dr. Rocha is a excellent doctor. You will be comfortable and confident that you are being taken care of.
