Patient Stories

I had a stroke almost 5 years ago and I was only 40 at the time. Doctors told me that if I had been onlder I would have died. I had diffculty walking and talking after the stroke. I had been to several doctors and my family wasnt impressed with them. My mom and aunt found Dr. Stachler and he reviewed my case and changed my medications. I have not had another stroke under his care. The quality of life I am enjoying is much higher than I was told I would have. He is the greatest counselor and the most caring doctor I know. He is my hero.

My wife and I were having problems associated with over weight conditions. My problems were being treated with medication, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sluggish feeling, etc., etc. My wife had much of the same with the addition of type 2 diabetes. Dr. Stachler suggested we seriously consider going on the South Beach Diet and blending it in to our life style instead of just using it as just another diet. Basically, this was to become a major life style change. Since Dr. Stachler walks the talk, I believe that he was the confidence builder which gave us the start we needed to mimic his example. We have been on this life style change since May of 2011. We have had several follow-up visits to Dr. Stachler with each visit seeing improvement over the last. My wife has been able to reduce the amount of medicine she takes for diabetes and I have started to feel better. I am writing this on 10/27/2011 which is approximately 5 1/2 months after we started taking the doctor's advice. We weighed ourselves yesterday morning and based on our weight over the last several years my wife has lost between 30 and 40 pounds and I have lost between 30 and 40 pounds. It is not an easy process but the results it produces are quite remarkable. I am not saying we follow the process to the letter since sometimes you have to be places where you can not always eat the way you would like. The process, however, allows you to recover from these situations. We both are grateful to Dr. Stachler for his sincere appraisal of our situation and his suggestions and direction towards creating a situation that produced a positive outcome. During my very first appointment with Dr. Stachler he indicated to me that his purpose in becoming a physician was to strive always to improve all of his patient’s quality of life. We both intend to continue with this program for the rest of out lives. Please deliver our thanks to a fine physician, Dr. Richard Stachler.

Dr. Stachler is a great doctor. He discovered a thyroid condition I had that at least 4 ER doctors missed. He is both knowledgeable and compassionate. I would highly recommend anyone new to the area make an appointment. You'll be glad you did. He knows most of his patients well because we've been with him for years. He is one of the best in town.
