Meet Your Provider

What led you to become a midwife or choose your focus of medicine?
I decided to become a midwife after many years of labor and delivery nursing. I wanted to have more of an influence in the education and support of women during their pregnancy as well as the promotion of birth as a normal event in a woman’s life. I wanted to decrease the fear associated with birth and emphasize the remarkable changes a woman’s body undergoes to begin the birth process. Women should be supported in their choices for a safe satisfying birth experience.

What about your line of work do you find most rewarding and why?
There are many rewards in midwifery. One is the ability to inform, support and empower women. Minimizing fear with knowledge and encouragement and sharing in their joy and accomplishment.

What do you want all patients to know about midwifery?
I want all patients to know that midwifery is an art as well as a science. To be a midwife means to be “with woman” listening to women, educating, encouraging, supporting, acknowledging her concerns. Midwifery is informing and supporting women in their choices for childbirth and continued health through all life stages.

What do you find most encouraging about the work you do?
It is encouraging to get young families off to a good start, to inform and support new parents.

What are your top priorities with every patient you see?
I want my patients to feel respected, encouraged and cared for!
