What is a Psychiatrist?

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor specializing in psychiatry. Psychiatrists act as medical consultants in many ways and in many settings. A psychiatrist can prescribe medications, provide specialized counseling called psychotherapy and organize support services and assistance for their patients.
