How does the interview process work?

After we receive your CV, we will review your experience and interest and will speak to you in more detail. If both parties feel that the opportunity should be further explored, we will set up a phone interview with one or more members of our recruitment team or medical staff. If there is still mutual interest, we would plan for a physician tour/visit to meet with the appropriate administrators, directors and physicians.

How long does it take to get a Florida medical license and how do I obtain one?

The process for a Florida medical license can take anywhere from three to six months. With a license facilitator assisting with the preparation of the application, the approval process is usually shortened to around three months. We can recommend facilitators to help in this process. You can also visit www.doh.state.fl.us or call (850) 245-4131 for more information.

What is the process for receiving privileges at Baptist or Gulf Breeze Hospital?

Following a contractual agreement, you will be assigned an on-boarding specialist with Baptist Medical Group who will assist you with completing a medical staff application for privileges at Baptist Hospital, Inc. The on-boarding specialist will assist you with ensuring the application is complete and appropriate attachments are included in the packet. The packet will then be forwarded to the medical affairs office for processing. Application processing time is 90-120 days. Privileges are grated after the credentials file is deemed complete, forwarded through the appropriate committee process and approved by the board of directors. Although it may sound complex, your on-boarding specialist will keep you abreast of progress throughout the process.

How long does it take to get on managed-care contracts?

The process for managed care will generally take 90-120 days from the time the complete application is submitted to the health plan with copies of required documentation (i.e. license, DEA, malpractice insurance, hospital privileges, board certification, etc.). This would be the time necessary to provide the insurance companies with credentialing information and to obtain the proper provider numbers.

What is the malpractice climate like in Florida?

For the past several years, Florida has experienced a more stable malpractice environment. Once the state legislature imposed limits on certain types of awards, the market began to stabilize and the availability of commercial malpractice coverage increased.
