Pensacola Gulf Coast

The greater Pensacola area is the largest metropolitan area in the Florida Panhandle and the second largest on the Gulf Coast between New Orleans and Tampa. Pensacola is a seaport on the Pensacola Bay, which connects to the Gulf of Mexico. A large United States Navy airbase, the first in the United States, is located southwest of Pensacola (near the community of Warrington).

The abundance and quality of culture, arts, museums, sports, and concerts in Pensacola exceed what you find in much larger cities. There’s a symphony, opera, theater and ballet, not to mention our art and museums. We have high-level hockey and baseball teams, and there are headlining national acts that regularly make a stop in town. And of course, there is any and everything related to water – from diving to boating. However, the best way to learn about Pensacola is to experience it for yourself.

The Pensacola Bay area offers a multitude of recreational options. The surrounding bodies of water provide a mixed stringer of fishing options, in addition to boating, sailing, surfing, diving, water sports and kayaking.

Parks are located throughout the communities and provide a safe and relaxing location for families to spend time together. Various fitness facilities provide an opportunity to exercise, play tennis and meet new friends.

Pensacola’s minor league hockey team, the Pensacola Ice Flyers, provides sports enthusiasts with competitive play at the Pensacola Bay Center. The Pensacola Blue Wahoos, the area’s minor league baseball team, are also another local sports team with a track record for success and a vibrant fan base to match.

You would be hard-pressed to find the variety of housing options that exist in Pensacola elsewhere in the country. From an affordable waterfront home to a roomy farm estate on the north side of town, just about everything is available in this community. Pensacola Beach offers many types of living options – condominiums, beach cottages, waterfront homes of all types and much more. It’s very attainable to make the Gulf of Mexico your backyard and the white sands of Pensacola Beach part of your everyday neighborhood.

Families in the Pensacola area are served by nearly 100 public and private schools in the Escambia County and Santa Rosa County districts.
